Chicken & Eggs

Pasture-raised foods you can eat with confidence

Chickens & eggs was this first adventure we dove into on the homestead and have been hooked ever since! Early on we knew there had to be a better way to get clean nutritious meat, the better way was raise it yourself! We do not use any antibiotics or growth hormones and we supplement with soy free non-GMO grains.

Our laying hens live out on the pasture and serve multiple purposes with the most important regenerating the soil of our pasture. They feast on bugs & worms by scratching the ground, (doing the chicken dance) tilling it up for future growth of lush vegetation. This natural diet makes for the best eggs. Our layers also have Free choice minerals, egg shells for calcium, grit and Kelp.

Pasture raised eggs typically contain the following benefits:

  1. 1/3 Less Cholesterol
  2. 1/4 Less Saturated Fat
  3. 2/3 More Vitamin A
  4. 2 Times more Omega-3 fatty acids
  5. 3 Times more Vitamin E
  6. 7 Times more Beta Carotene

Our Meat birds are a Cornish Cross breed perfect for meat bird. Our birds start in the brooder for a couple weeks then it's out on pasture in a chicken tractor. The chicken tractor keeps the birds safe but lets them be out on pasture the way nature intended them to be. The birds are moved twice a day to enjoy a new round of bugs and grass. We run our birds in our garden area, this fertilizes the soil between planting rows which eventually makes it over to the plant beds.

Eggs are pretty much available every day at the farm or pick them up at one of our drop off locations.
